The Tenba Fulton v2 is one of the few camera backpacks that looks like a normal canvas rolltop daypack while still giving you a padded camera section, rear access and a laptop sleeve. The catch is choosing a size. The 14L and 16L share the same design and materials, so the decision comes down to how much camera gear you carry and how big your laptop is.
Quick answer
- Choose the 14L if you carry one body and 3–4 lenses (or fewer), use a laptop up to 14 inches, and want the lighter, shorter bag: 2 lb and 17.5 in tall. Check the 14L on Amazon
- Choose the 16L if you carry 5–7 lenses, use a 15–16 inch laptop, or want extra camera-section height for longer lenses: 2.8 lb and 20 in tall. Check the 16L on Amazon

The width is identical (11 in / 28 cm). The 16L is 2.5 in (7 cm) taller, 1 in (2 cm) deeper and 0.8 lb (0.36 kg) heavier. Inside, its camera section is 1.5 in wider and 1 in taller, which is where the extra lens capacity comes from.
What Actually Fits: Capacity Examples
Tenba's own capacity guidance is the most reliable starting point:
- Fulton v2 14L: a mirrorless or DSLR camera with 3–4 lenses (up to a 70–200mm f/2.8), a laptop up to 14 inches, and room for a DJI Mavic or similar compact drone.
- Fulton v2 16L: a mirrorless or DSLR camera with 5–7 lenses (up to an attached 70–200mm f/2.8), a laptop up to 16 inches, and the same compact-drone fit.
In practice, the difference is what you can leave mounted. Tenba says the 16L takes a 70–200mm f/2.8 attached to the camera, so you can pull the bag off and start shooting. On the 14L, plan on a smaller lens attached and the telephoto stored separately. Both bags have a rolltop section above the camera compartment for a jacket, food or other personal gear, and it expands when you need extra room.
Lens counts are guidelines. A kit of small primes uses far less space than a set of f/2.8 zooms, so compare the inside dimensions in the table with what you actually own.
Laptop and Tablet Fit
Tenba rates the 14L for laptops up to 14 inches (35 cm) and the 16L for laptops up to 16 inches (40 cm). The laptop compartments measure 8.75 × 13 × 0.75 in (22 × 33 × 2 cm) and 10 × 14.5 × 0.75 in (25 × 37 × 2 cm).
Check the dimensions, not just the screen size. Some Amazon listing text for the 14L says "up to 13 inches (33 cm)," while Tenba's product page says 14 inches. Measure your laptop's width, height and thickness, then compare them with the compartment sizes above before you order. Tenba doesn't publish a separate tablet spec, but any tablet that fits within those compartment dimensions will go in the same sleeve.
Rule of thumb: on a 15 or 16 inch laptop, get the 16L. On a 13 or 14 inch machine, either size works, and the 14L saves weight.
Weight and Size on Your Back
At 2 lb (0.91 kg) empty, the 14L is noticeably light for a camera backpack with a laptop sleeve. The 16L weighs 2.8 lb (1.27 kg). For long city walks or for people with a smaller frame, the shorter 17.5 in height of the 14L often matters as much as the weight. Tenba lists both sizes as carry-on compatible, but airline limits vary, so check your carrier's rules. Our camera backpacks for air travel guide covers what to look for.
Features Both Sizes Share
- Secure rear camera access: the camera section opens against your back, so nobody can unzip it from the front or sides while you travel.
- Rolltop top section: rolled tight it keeps out rain, and it expands to carry extra cargo.
- Tripod/monopod side pocket: a reinforced side pocket for a compact travel tripod. See our best travel tripods for mirrorless cameras.
- Materials: water-repellent 600D canvas, 300g brushed tricot interior, YKK zippers and reinforced stitching (standard Tan/Olive and Black versions).
- 5-year warranty from Tenba.
If you shoot in wet weather a lot, Tenba also makes Fulton v2 All Weather versions in nylon with Splashguard zippers, for example the Fulton v2 14L All Weather. For more ways to keep gear dry, see how to protect camera gear while travelling.

Alternatives to the Tenba Fulton v2
- Peak Design Everyday Backpack 20L: more structured, with side access and a polished urban look. It costs more ($279.95 on peakdesign.com, 12 Oct 2026). Pick it if you want quick side access over a soft canvas style.
- WANDRD PRVKE 31L: a much bigger rolltop for travel days when you carry camera gear and clothes together ($254 on wandrd.com, 12 Oct 2026).

- Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L: if even the 14L feels like too much, a sling carries a small mirrorless kit. See backpack vs sling vs shoulder bag.
- Tenba BYOB 10 insert: already own a backpack you love? A padded insert turns it into a camera bag for much less money.

FAQ
Is the Tenba Fulton v2 14L big enough for a full-frame mirrorless kit?
For a body and 3–4 lenses, yes. That's Tenba's own rating, and it includes lenses up to a 70–200mm f/2.8. If you want the 70–200 mounted on the camera inside the bag, or you carry more lenses, the 16L is the safer choice.
Will a 16-inch laptop fit in the 14L?
No. Tenba rates the 14L for laptops up to 14 inches, with a 22 × 33 × 2 cm compartment. For 15–16 inch laptops, choose the 16L (25 × 37 × 2 cm).
Can I take the Fulton v2 as airline carry-on?
Tenba lists both sizes as carry-on compatible. The 14L measures 28 × 44 × 17 cm and the 16L 28 × 51 × 19 cm. Always check your airline's personal-item and cabin-bag limits, which vary by carrier and fare.
Is the Fulton v2 waterproof?
No. It's water-repellent: canvas plus a rolltop that keeps rain out when rolled tightly. For heavy rain, use a rain cover or look at the Fulton v2 All Weather versions.
Does it hold a tripod?
Yes. Both sizes have a reinforced side pocket for a tripod or monopod. A compact travel tripod is the best match. Our travel tripod guide lists options.
What's the difference between Fulton v2 and the original Fulton?
This comparison covers the current v2 line only. Check the "v2" name and the Tenba model number (637-733/734 for the 14L, 637-736/737 for the 16L) on any listing to make sure you're getting the current version.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Looks like a normal canvas rolltop daypack, not a camera bag.
- Rear camera access, so nobody can open the camera section from the front or sides.
- Expandable rolltop section for a jacket, food or extra cargo.
- Padded laptop sleeve (up to 14 in on the 14L, up to 16 in on the 16L, per Tenba).
- Reinforced side pocket for a compact tripod or monopod.
- Light for a camera backpack: 2 lb (14L) / 2.8 lb (16L), with a 5-year Tenba warranty.
Cons
- Water-repellent, not waterproof: heavy rain needs a cover or the All Weather version.
- No side access to the camera section, unlike the Peak Design Everyday Backpack.
- The 14L can't keep a 70–200mm f/2.8 mounted on the camera; you need the 16L for that.
- Some Amazon listing text quotes a smaller laptop fit for the 14L than Tenba does, so measure first.
Verdict
The Fulton v2 14L is the better everyday and travel size for most mirrorless shooters: lighter, shorter, and enough for a body plus 3–4 lenses and a 14 inch laptop. Choose the Fulton v2 16L if you carry a bigger lens kit, want a 70–200mm f/2.8 mounted inside, or work on a 15–16 inch laptop. Both are built the same way, so you won't give up quality either way.
